January 6, 2006 - PS3 at 2006 CES
Here's the good news: The PS3 did indeed make a showing at CES 2006. Here's the bad news: We've seen it all before.
As was the case at E3 this past year, the system itself (or actually an empty shell, to be sure) is neatly situated in a glass case, slowly spinning for all to see. The boomerang controller is suspiciously missing from the scene, as is the white version of the console. Perhaps the only semi-interesting thing here is the "Conceptual Design" plaque in front of the system, hinting that things may or may not change. If anything does happen to change between now and its eventual release, it's likely only to be the order of the ports on the back or a slight (very slight) change in size. At any rate, it's something to ponder. Aside from the spinning rotisserie-esque system, a nearby wall is set up to run some of the existing demos that we've already seen, like the MGS4 trailer, which seems to always draw a crowd at Sony's booth, even from obvious non-gaming business men.
