February 28, 2006 - PS3 Launch Delay?
Sony announced today that a delay in launching the much touted PS 3 gaming console is a real possibility.
Speculation as to the causes include Blu-ray, the next-generation DVD format backed by Sony. The PS 3 will be able to play Blu-ray movies and games. This new format will be able to hold up to 25GB on a single layer platform and up to 50GB with dual layer.
This delay in based around finalizing specs behind Blu-ray production; Advanced Access Content System (AACS), a Digital Rights Management feature, has delayed the production of both Blu-ray and its competitor, HD-DVD. It is believed both camps have now reached an agreement.
