When will the PS3 be released?
After the recent CES 2006 show, where Sony's PS3 presentation was at best "meager", we're finding it harder and hgarder to believe that the original Spring 2006 release date will be met.
Originally, we figured that Japan should expect a launch in Spring 06, since Sony normally releases their products to this market first. North America usually receives products approximately 4-6 months later, so we were looking at Fall 06.
I suppose time will tell....
How much will the PS3 Cost?
When PlayStation 2 came out in 1994, it cost around $300 USD. Taking into account that CD Rom media wasn't cheap back then, we believe it would be fair to say that Playstation 3 should cost upwards of $400 USD.

What's in the new console?
Playstation 3 sports a pretty impressive spec sheet including a revolutionary Cell Processor, Power PC-base Core @ 3.2GHz, 512kb L2 Cache and a processing capacity of 2.18 TFLOPS. If you don't understand any of that, just know this:
The PS3 is expected to be twice as powerful as the new Xbox 360, about 10 times as powerful as the Nintendo Wii.

Will PS3 have a Hard Drive included?
They thought so, but after looking at the price, we'd be very surprised. Don't expect this hard drive to be a standard feature as cost cutting and reality start to rear their ugly heads. No worries though, PS3 will come with a 2.5" bay where you can pop-in an aftermarket hard drive (which may also come with Linux already installed!)
Can PS3 play PS2 & PS1 games?
No big surprise here, as Playstation 2 had the ability to play first generation Playstation games, Sony has announced a fully backwards compatibility system. Will the graphics be enhanced as well? We're not sure, but wioth the new video chip, it wouldn't be a surprise if there were distinct enhancements.

How much Memory will PS3 have?
Samsung - the company in charge of arming PS3 with memory is expected to include a total of 512MB of RAM. 256MB for the system memory and 256MB for the GPU.
Can PS3 games be played online?
You bet! Sony confirmed at CES 2006 that online gaming will indeed be a feature of the new PS3 system, much like its predecessor, the PS2.
